Welcome to Ask Gigi, a column where psychosexual therapist, Gigi
Engle, answers your most intimate questions and explores a range of
sexual health topics. .
What Does It Mean to be ‘Demisexual?’
Demi’ is French for the word ‘half’. A person who is demisexual doesn’t feel sexually attracted to someone without a deep emotional connection. In short, you need feelings for someone to get horny.
How Does Stress Affect Sex?
When you’re under a lot of pressure, your body begins to ooze cortisol, the body’s stress hormone. When cortisol levels go up, libido goes down. High cortisol can even hinder your ability to experience orgasm. You may also experience trouble lubricating, getting aroused mentally, and a feeling of sluggishness and general lack of sexy feelings.
Questions come from in-clinic questions from clients. All personal information is removed. Gigi does not offer coaching or therapy for free.
